EDITORIAL 5 E stamos culminando un momento histórico de transforma- ción, de profundos cambios, de renovación y actualización en todos los sentidos. Me reconforta ver cómo estamos consi- guiendo con gran esfuerzo y sacrificio, todos nuestros objetivos para beneficio de la entidad y por tanto, para beneficio de todos. Hemos de tener consciencia de que estamos viviendo un punto de inflexión para el futuro de nuestra institución y también me gusta reconocer que ha sido, en gran parte, gracias al apoyo y entusiasmo de muchas personas que han estado y siguen estan- do implicados en este duro y largo proceso de rejuvenecimiento transformador que está experimentando el Cercle desde estos últimos años. Una dinámica depuradora y conducente a que una entidad tan emblemática como la nuestra, que tan sólo en apa- riencia es atemporal, se desarrolle y adapte a los nuevos tiem- pos, trascendiendo, si cabe, a su propia y laudable historia. Y es verdad que nuestra historia nos precede. Es innegable y le- gítima. Respalda nuestro hacer y nos ampara. Eso es indudable. Pero es preciso contar con una cierta osadía, con una visión de largo alcance, con buenas estrategias, para plantar cara al impa- rable avance tecnológico y acoplarse a su progreso, crecer a su ritmo y no darle la espalda. Cambian los pensamientos y con ellos los modelos, por lo que las innovaciones más importantes deben centrarse en la educación, en una correcta orientación que no se base exclusivamente en la adquisición de conocimientos, que es algo crucial, sino también en la gestión de las emociones inevitablemente involucradas en ese proceso de aprendizaje. La formación es arma poderosa, y la facultad de impartirla nos hace más competitivos, más fuertes y, sobre todo, nos permite un mayor alcance, en el espacio y en el tiempo. La educación de la sensibilidad artística ordena profundas im- bricaciones entre lo personal y lo profesional, entre lo tangi- ble y lo intangible, entre cuerpo y alma. Para todos nosotros, como personas y como integrantes de una institución cultural de prestigio, estar presentes en este momento, formar parte de este proceso de adoctrinamiento, de tutorización, es —o debería ser— motivo de orgullo, porque participar activamente, como colectivo, en la transmisión del conocimiento, de la experiencia, aporta valor a nuestro cometido y mérito a nuestra labor. Es esencial seguir esforzándose en esa transmisión meticulosa y paciente del saber y, aunque no cabe duda de que Internet des- empeña un papel divulgador importantísimo, facilitando la di- fusión con una inmediatez que aún sigue sorprendiendo, sigue siendo crucial el factor humano, personal. Por este motivo nues- tra gran implicación en este sentido, en la apuesta por la relación directa persona a persona intentando siempre ofrecer a todos nuestros socios y ciudadanos la excelencia en todos nuestros servicios y proyectos. W e are putting the final touches to a historical moment of transformation, of profound changes, renewal and updat- ing in all senses. I am comforted to see just how we are fulfilling all of our objectives, with great effort and sacrifice, for the bene- fit of the institution and therefore, for the benefit of all. We must be aware that we are going through something of a turning point for the future of our institution, and I would also like to acknowl- edge that this has been, to a great extent, thanks to the support and enthusiasm of many people who have been and continue to be involved in this long, arduous process of transformative reju- venation that the Cercle has undergone in recent years. This is a dynamic of distillation, conducive to an institution as emblemat- ic as ours - timeless only in appearance - developing and adapt- ing to the new times and transcending, if at all possible, our own praiseworthy history. And it is true that our history precedes us: it is undeniable and legitimate. It reinforces our way of doing things and shelters us. Of that there is no doubt. But one needs to have a certain audac- ity, a far-reaching vision and decent strategies to stand up to the unstoppable advance of technology and to attach oneself to its progress, to grow at one’s own pace and not to turn one’s back on it. Thinking changes and with it, so do models, and as such the most important innovations should focus on education, but oriented so that they are not based exclusively on knowledge acquisition. This is crucial to the process, but it should also look at managing the emotions that are inevitably involved in the learning process. Training is a powerful weapon, and ability to impart it makes us stronger, more competitive and, above all, affords us a greater range in both space and in time. The teaching of artistic sensitivity creates profound overlapping between the personal and the professional, between the tangible and the intangible, between body and soul. For all of us, as indi- viduals and as members of a prestigious cultural institution, to be present at this time, being of this process of indoctrination, of tutoring, is - or should be - a cause for pride because actively participating as a collective in this transmission of knowledge and experience, adds value to our task and merit to our labours. We must continue our efforts in this meticulous, patient trans- mission of knowledge and, although there is no doubt that the Internet has an important role in disseminating and spreading information, facilitating circulation with an immediacy that still continues to surprise, the human, personal factor is still crucial. For this reason we are so deeply involved in this sense, focussing on direct person-to-person relations, and always trying to offer all our partners and citizens excellence in all our services and projects.
