CERCLE 9
38 F ounded in the city of Barcelona in 1881, the Reial Cercle Artístic aims to promote all kinds of artistic and cultural events. The association has always had a prominent role in Barcelona's artistic and social life, especially between the last years of the 19th century and the early decades of the 20th century, when social events, dances and popular festivals were organised, including the dances in the great hall at La Llotja and at the Gran Teatro del Liceo. Two years after turning 140, the institution stands up with commendable stability and a firm future project that seeks to promote, stimulate and support activities related to the world of art and culture in all its disciplines throughout the world in a clear commitment to become an international cultural reference. For this reason, together with Barcelona Cathedral and the Pia Almoina Diocesan Museum, we present the magnificent Dürer, Master of the Renaissance exhibition, which coincides with the 2019 commemoration of the 19th Chapter of the Golden Fleece convened by Carlos V. In addition, it also marks 500 years since the death of Emperor Maximilian, whose funeral was celebrated in the very same Barcelona Cathedral. Dürer, Master of the Renaissance is without a doubt one of the most momentous exhibitions the Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona has organised and presented throughout its long history. Presentation by Josep Fèlix Bentz Chairman of the Reial Cercle Artístic de Barcelona
