CREADOR @ S - Consuelo Buesa 8 T here are few occasions when life gives a chance to participate in the development of an artist. So this is one. Consuelo Buesa Ibáñez has been linked to the world of creation throughout her life. From her art studios at the famous Escola Massana in Barcelona she has never stopped living in and for art. Design, fashion, music, illustration, painting, drawing and sculpture have filled hundreds of creations, with a personal stamp of great wealth and value. When she arrived at the Institut Barcelonès d’Art at the Reial Cercle Artistic two years ago, she stood out for her technical skill and ease of abstraction, which culminated in a style of flat painting in concatenated planes, representing iconic portraits of characters who have stood out for their creative work. She gives a nod to the British pop-art school headed by Richard Hamilton and David Hockney among others and, at the same time, flees from the banal and everyday. Her portraits are the product of a deep study of the forms that constitute the planes and of colour, so that they are expressed as symbolic elements of the character represented. The fragmentation and colouration of the incarnation of the physiognomy of each one reinforces the temperament, character and personality that the author intends, giving it a unique identity that could correspond to the iconic image of genius. Monochrome flat backgrounds provoke an interesting and unique effect in the portrait. There is no anecdote or context, only the image of the identity of the being, even of that ‘suprapersonal’ essence that Consuelo Buesa infers with sensitivity and elegance. There are nowadays a few artists who have chosen to increase the expression of the portrait with colour in search of added pictorial value, and thus exacerbate the metaphysical characteristics of the portrait with the use of the language of painting itself. The author achieves it with a singular craft of neatness, meticulousness, strength and identity. Her works do not go unnoticed even by the usual lazy wanderings of skeptical spectators. The admiration of colleagues, critics and the anonymous endorse the recognitions she has received in the different prizes she has participated in. The current collection CREADOR@S is a set of characters from history with the common denominator of creation in different aspects of life. Art, music, literature, science, philosophy...all improved by the contribution of each of them, which has made humanity evolve to have a better world. Deserved recognition, now increased with the author’s own style. Undoubtedly, Consuelo Buesa Ibáñez brings a new element of wealth and creation to the art world.
