De la Naturaleza al Cosmos - INARI M.
FROM NATURE TO COSMOS I appreciate the opportunity that the artist has given me when asked to talk about her artistic work. It’s no mean feat to relate my thoughts and reflections on her art and, even less to do it to published in this artist’s book, which I congratulate her on. I value her courage so much that I cannot help but express it. Congratulations! Of all the ones possible, the author has chosen to represent her own particular world in a narrative, direct way, full of imagination and well-argued. She flees from the rational, to establish an extrasensory connec- tion with the multitude of elements that she brings together. She collects anecdotes, knowledge, acces- sories, objects, miniatures, images, textures and colours within the ideas that she brings about in a truly unique way. She feels our origins vividly, as if they were the protagonist of the story. Lemuria, Atlantis, Egypt, Mesopotamia and other cultures of great magical and legendary content overlap in her latest works. As a personal manifesto and in favour of understanding the present based on the ancestral knowledge of the past. Her aesthetic is a legacy of a narrative collage with a particular layout that harks back to the hierarchical perspective of Romanesque with, at the same time, a clear Renaissance influence. What belongs to the realm of the mystical, the most transcendent, is usually placed on the upper part of the canvas. Below are the more physical and earthly images and/or objects. From a hologram to a miniatureVespa motorcycle, we can find many details that help us to “read” her story. Vivid, almost pure, colours invade the surfaces of striking paintings, with a touch of simplicity that takes the viewer towards a profound mystery that forces them to reflect. At any rate, it leaves neither the expert nor the casual observer indifferent. It awakens curiosity, caution, uncertainty and a desire to continue to find out something more than what you can see; and that feeds and confirms Mercedes-Inari, which is in line with her objectives. I have known the artist for years and I can say, with no hint of a mistake, that her conceptual tenacity on art is precisely that: the keenness to know. The representation and staging of all the content in the ideology is part of her idiosyncrasy. Her originality lies in the irrational simplicity of establishing a narrative fabric under a gaze that is pure and untouched by contextual contamination. An objective language, simple and unmasked, as if it were a child. The technique is so varied that it avoids any attempt for historical references to be sought in it. The style is varied, yet maintains a clear and defining identity. I believe and I hope that this book is the beginning of a process of validation for her art.
