La muestra ilustra la vivacidad del colorido y el efectismo que el estilo se procuraba mediante una hábil conjugación de di- versos focos de luz que al tiempo garantizaba los buscados claroscuros, frecuentemente tenebristas. Muchas de las figu- ras exageran sus movimientos y gestos con el fin de aportar más fuerza a la escena recreada y representar con fidelidad la realidad. Además de obras de la Kunsthaus Zürich, la muestra incluye préstamos de los principales museos de arte antiguo de Eu- ropa como El Prado de Madrid, el Kunsthistorisches Museum de Viena, el Städel Museum de Frankfurt, el Museo de Bellas Artes de Bilbao o la National Gallery de Londres. cisco de Zurbarán, Alessandro Magnasco or Jan Steen, and contemporary artists like Maurizio Cat- telan, Paul McCarthy or Cindy Sherman, and uses a cinematically-inspired montage to show different, yet related realities that nourish and feed back into each other, renewing the viewer’s own gaze. The exhibition illustrates the liveliness of the colours and the dramatism that the style attained through a skilful conjugation of various light spots which guaranteed the desired, rather tenebrist, play of light and shadows at the same time. Many of the figures exaggerate their movements and gestures with the aim of making a greater impact on the recreated scene and of faithfully representing reality. In addition to the works from the Kunsthaus Zürich, the exhibition includes lends from Europe’s main ancient art museums such as Madrid’s Museo del Prado, Vienna’s Kunsthistorisches Museum, Frank- furt’s Städel Museum, Bilbao’s Fine Arts Museum or London’s National Gallery.
