Breve crónica de Miami en su gran semana Es de agradecer que, al menos una vez al año, Art Basel Miami congregue tal cantidad de público relacionado con el mundo del arte. Además de dar cabida al enorme tráfico de esos días, la ciudad soporta estoicamente el impacto de una muchedumbre tan variada como curiosa. Art Basel , pese a la competencia, sigue siendo el evento más importante. Su posición se consolida año tras año gracias a la presencia tanto de profesionales como de una ingente cantidad de público que parecen querer decir: «Yo también estuve ahí». Pero también está ese grupo de coleccionistas que, durante estos días en los que Miami se convierte en el capital del arte mundial, abren sus colecciones al público. También es destacable Art Miami , que destaca por la calidad de las obras que expone, una opinión bastante generalizada entre los profesionales. También se celebra Context , una feria hermanada con Art Miami pero marcada por su propia personalidad, diferenciada. Tras un pequeño refrigerio o aperitivo con amigos en Latina , en Biscayne (aconsejo probar la yuca frita con salsa de cilantro) llegamos a mi cuarta propuesta exhibitoria: Pulse . Quizás un exceso de fotografía, pero bueno, me gusta la fotografía. Digno de elogio es el Pérez Art Museum , con su despampanante arquitectura frente al mar. Cuarenta millones de dólares son los que donó el Sr. Pérez, que unidos a los 100 más aportados por la ciudad, hicieron posible tan extraordinario espacio visitado por un aluvión de visitantes procedentes de todas partes. Y para acabar, una parada en Wynwood, nuevo centro neurálgico del arte, con espacios ubicados en viejos almacenes y fábricas reformadas y convertidos en estilosas galerías y salas de arte, externamente decoradas con grafitti y murales. De regreso a Miami Beach por la carretera Tuttle Causeway, a la altura del puente, veo a una bailarina proyectada sobre la fachada de un rascacielos y muchas más palmeras ondeando junto al mar… Vito Abba A brief Report about Miami in its great Art Week We must thank Art Basel Miami if once a year a multitude of people in all the various capacities related to the world of art find themselves in Miami. This position is confirmed by the presence, after the first few hours devoted to professionals, of an interested yet varied public, who sometimes seem to want to say «I was there too!» There is also a powerful group of collectors among the general public who opened their collections to the city, making a very substantial artistic heritage in Miami available to all. Another compliment must go to their number one competitor, Art Miami , which stands out for the quality of the works on show. Under the same tent, is Context, Art Miami’s sister fair that now shows its own real character. In some aspects, it looks a lot like Art Miami , but do not be fooled, the profile is different. A break with friends, a snack at Latina on the Biscayne (you must try the fried yuca with coriander sauce) and here we arrive at the fourth exhibition worthy of praise: Pulse. There’s maybe a bit too much photography, but heh... I like photography. To continue with my series of accolades…., while some work on the building was still in going on, the opening preview of the Pérez Art Museum with its stunning architecture and seafront position! 40 million US dollars were donated by Mr. Pérez and 100 million given by the city council along with many others from various donors to be able to open this extraordinary space visited by a sea of visitors. And finally, a quick stop at Wynwood, the new heart of the gallery scene, which is making real estate agents extraordinarily happy thanks to the restoration of small factories and warehouses that are transformed into trendy galleries externally decorated by graffiti and murals. And then once again, I am on the Tuttle Causeway returning to Miami Beach where from the bridge you can see a girl dancing projected onto a skyscraper facade.
