Entre sus amistades se encontraban personalidades como Claude Monet, Auguste Rodin y Robert Louis Stenvenson. Esta exposición se centra en las pinturas con las que quiso inmortalizar a sus más allegados. Socialmente bien relacionado, retrató a muchos de sus amigos y contemporáneos como a Auguste Rodin, Claude Monet o Robert Louis Stevenson y, dado que no se trataba de encargos, pudodar rienda suelta a su creatividad, realizando obras de carácter experimental e intimista. Esta exposición presenta más de setenta retratos realizados por Sargent mientras estuvo en Londres, Paris, Boston e Italia, además de la campiña inglesa.
