Fondos tormentosos, tétricos, tenebrosos, son inquietantes, y centran el estado de identidad del modelo. Muestra situaciones de desesperación ante la adversidad, de impotencia o de peligro. En otros fondos, la neutralidad, la falta de color y la calma, aseguran pasividad e inacción. Consigueuna reflexiónacercade losdiferentesestadosemocionales del individuo con relación a los diversos impactos que la vida proporciona. El estado de alerta por peligro inminente o la rabia de la derrota, provoca una ansiedad que Yoel Díaz matiza con la contracción de todo el cuerpo. Por el contrario, la imposibilidad de ser un rival digno contra el problema, conlleva la pérdida de fuerza, la abulia, la flaccidez de las figuras queparticipan en la obra. De porte moderno, muchas veces sólo representa detalles del cuerpo. Metonimias suficientes para expresar un todo intrínseco o para invitar al espectador a que lo complete.
