Apainter of precision, he shares affects, realities, instants that have captivated him –evenonly for amoment– for hiswork is not presumptuous but rather quite the opposite. It is attainable, sincere anddirect, easy todigest. In his landscapes there are notmatters unresolved, everything is finished. He uses adaringpalette that he is able to tonedown. There are neither labels nor complicateddefinitions. In an exercise of humility and vocation, he goes aheadwith the things that comfort him, those themes he ismost familiar with, most friendly and close to. Althoughbravewithhis figures, it’s notmy favouritepart of hiswork, because his landscapes aredonewithmuchmore respect and skill, especially so in thedetails. He tempers light and colour in abalancingof elements that culminates in a body of work that is harmonious and aesthetic. Pintor nacido en 1957, en una pequeña ciudad de Portugal, no fue hasta la década de los 80 cuando comenzó su formación profesional en video y artes gráficas. Pintor de concreciones, comparte afectos, realidades, instantes que le han cautivado, siquierapor unmomento, porque su trabajonoespresuntuoso sino todo lo contrario: es asequible, sincero y directo, fácil de digerir. En sus paisajes, no quedan asuntos pendientes, todo está resuelto. Usa una paleta atrevida que sabe aplacar. No hay etiquetas ni complicadas definiciones. En un ejercicio de humildad y vocación, tira adelante con aquello que le reconforta, con los temas que le son más familiares, más amigos, más cercanos. Aunque valiente con la figura, no es en éstadondemásme gusta, porque el paisaje, especialmente en su detalle, lo trabaja con mucho más respeto y destreza, atemperando luz ycolor enunequilibriodeelementosque culmina en una obra armónica y estética.
