LLEI D'ART 14
Vladimir Volegov Grace Born inKhabarovsk in themost easterly part of theRussian far east, Vladimir did not start to travel inEurope until 1990. As a genrepainter, he highlights poetic images using his great and expressive sincerity and transparency. He sketches sweet, somewhat anachronistic scenes that are neverthelesswell-balanced, if a touch cloying. Impressionistic in style, hisworkdenotes his permanent search for beauty, light, perfectionof form and harmony. Heworks on colour respectfully and skilfully, without ever forcing anything, but always demanding a great deal from the composition and harmony of colour. Hiswork is, as a result, limpid and truthful, with no artifice or pretence, lyrical and restrained. He is intuitive inhis use of light andmakes no unnecessary concessions to the scene-setting, focussing insteadon the entire visionof thewhole, the stolenmoments inhis simplest scenes. Here nature is almost always front-of-stage, and the reflectionof light blurs and softens the outlines. Subtle in his female and child portraiture, he always treats the figurewithgrace and skill, in an exercise of brilliancewithout ostentation, an exercise of an artist well-versed in his trade. 85 contemporay artists
